What's new??? new clay and molds from Stampin' Up!

Looking for a fun way to take your cards to the next level?

Stampin Up! is introducing silicone molds and air dry clay in its new catalog. I've had a chance to play and the new products are really fun! The clay is available in white and you can color it with just a few drops of ink from your reinkers.  These are some flowers I made with the new Strawberry Slush - I used a few drops of the reinker to color the clay. When dry I sponged more color onto the flowers.  I used an aqua painter to put a bit of extra color on the center of the largest flower.

Advice for Edward and Bella {twilight} Come hop along!

In anticipation of the release of Breaking Dawn, part II - I decided to go "old school" back to the stamp I used on my first Twi card (you can see it here <--- click).  Its from Unity Stamp Co and its entitled "Just Be".  I thought it was great advice for Bella and Edward for the centuries ahead of them.  It reads:

Go for long walks
Indulge in hot baths
Question your assumptions
Be kind to yourself
Loosen up
Scream
Curse the world
Count your blessings
Just let go
Just Be

I sponged a "twilight-y" setting sun background on with various colors, and a few sparkley trees - cause what would Twilight be without sparkle?

Halloween is right around the corner! This card is super quick and easy! Make thumbprint spiders and add some dimensional stickers (these are white foam thickers).

Two things of note occured this weekend:

1) I orgranized my freezer (I now have beef, pork, chicken, veggies, etc all separated out and easier to find)

2) I made a card, I actually tipped my toes into stamping, for the first time in a while.

I used a felt cut out I had (these were ornaments I found at Target) and thought they would be perfect for card making. 

I used a kraft panel, on a kraft folded note and red ink for the sentiment.  Easy peasy!

Frosty: Warm and cozy and all bundled up!

Did you get a chance to stamp with VSN on SplitcoastStamper's this weekend?   This was one of the challenges - to make a card or project with an image of a something you'd bundle up with....scarf, hats, mittens, sweater, blanket, etc.....AND to make it warm and cozy....... incorporate felt into your project.  If you missed the mini VSN - there main event is coming up December 9th and 10th.

 
I went with something simple - I wanted to replicate these cute tags I had seen on Pinterest (click here to see them) using embossed circles as the snowman head.  Then added some felt ribbon as the scarf.  I cut freehand a carrot nose and sponged some ink on it to give it a bit of dimension.

Dollar Store Makeovers {ATU44}

Our challenge this week for All Things Unity is to go buy something
at the dollar store and use it in your All Things Unity project. 

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!! And right up my alley!

 

I bought a square baking pan (yes, it was just $1 at our local Dollar Tree) and used the bottom to hold a scrap book layout built on a 6 x 6 page size.  I added a layer behind it (that was 6.5 x 6.5 in) and it nicely filled the space.  If you wanted to go for more, you could always paint the baking pan (remember to use a primer first to help it stick to that metal finish).   I also bought a 2-pack of these poinsettia ornaments at the Dollar Tree - they are super glittery, and the little floral pick I used on the top with the pinecones and red bird. 

The stamp is Christmas List from Unity Stamp Co. The paper is some scrap I had left over (but I think its K & Co.) and I used a bit of ribbon between the pieces that is ruffled grosgrain from Stampin' Up.  The background cardstock is Really Red textured from SU, the green is Always Artichoke.  I used my crop-o-dile to punch holes in the top for hanging, and added some striped red wide ribbon.

it's beginning to look alot like halloween

 

Halloween is just 37 days away ... are you ready? I'm going to spend this weeking getting out my decorations and making that halloween banner I've really been wanting to do.

leafing out, part III

One of my other favorite leafs was a small leaf I picked from my large leaf philodendron (I had to hunt for a small leaf - most of the leafs are quite over a foot in length).  This leaf was probably the most difficult to use - it has a shiny surface so the watercolor paint has to be almost dry to use.  But - this leaf held up well over several uses.
