Can you judge a book by its cover??? Not always!
Looks like a regular book right?
When you open it up inside, you find it is a lined writing journal. Its perfect for your passwords or to use as a journal. Since it masquerades as a regular book, you could keep it on your desk or bookshelf. It's a great way to recycle a book you've read; or start your hunt in thrift shops and used book stores (or the sale shelf at your local library) for an inexpensive book!
A few months ago Lydia showcased this project on Splitcoast Stampers as a password book. <------ you can click for the supply list and step by step instructions. The basic project includes using a craft knife (X acto blade) to remove the book from the spine (for a bookie like me, that was almost sacrilege - but it gets easier after the first cut!). Then adhere the journal to the covers.
The journal I used is sold by Staples, its a 6 in. x 8 in. refill, and it retails for $3.29:

(I found most Staples don't have them on the shelf, but will order them for you, you can pick them up in store or have them shipped to your home).
The most challenging part of this was finding a book that is sized to fit the journal refill :-) if you're at the thrift shop - you might want to measure books (or bring the journal with you), overall you want a book that is just slightly larger than the journal.
I then stamped different sentiments (all stamps used are from Unity Stamp Co). and sprinkled them throughout the book. I choose an ink that matched the book and wasn't black ink, just to showcase the stamped sentiments.
I love this stamp (above) "Home is where your story begins" and this one below "Just Be".
That is a great idea. I must have missed, or skipped, that tutorial on SCS. I know what you mean about being hard to cut up a book, I don't even like to turn the edges of the page down to mark my place. Thrift stores are great places to find cheap books.

Wow the perfect cover for a lady with cats...and what password thief would ever suspect...unless of course they were a cat lover too and got distracted by the cover?
