Have you seen this???? its the new "embosslit" from Stampin' Up! It cuts and embosses butterflies all in one step! You'll end up with a bevy of butterflies in several sizes!
The cardstock colors are Melon Mambo, Only Orange and So Saffron. I used the branch from Hidden Garden Rubons (or you could use the branch stamp from Eastern Blooms stamp set). I stamped the sentiment in Chocolate Chip to match the branch.
Fold all pieces in half on the diagonal, unfold and then fold again in the other diagonal direction and unfold again. Unfold and then fold again in the other diagonal direction and unfold again. Making a point at the center of your paper and smoosh it in to create a near star, as shown in this picture. Bring the folded edges together pushing in the unfolded side edges and press flat. Pull one of the corners up and fold to the inside. Pull the second corner up and meet the first at midpoint and fold it in as well. Now do this with all the squares. Now working with the largest piece and from the bottom to the top of your tree slip the second largest piece onto the first largest piece and so forth. What you end up with is a Christmas Tree. Now you can move the pieces up and down to adjust your tree size. Play with it a bit and then adhere to your project.

Look what I found at the Dollar Store (Dollar Tree), yep it cost $1! Its a shadow box for a small project! They come in unfinished wood .... with a magnet to help keep the hinged lid securely in place. I finished mine with a quick coat of acrylic paint - in a soft green (the finish is a bit lighter IRL than in the photo). Inside ... I did the three dimensional origami tree (click here for the how-to's) with some little bits of paper (simply cut three squares, one slightly smaller than the other) and ribbon as packages. The second photo is of the inside.
As I decorate my home .... I wanted to share with all of you one of my favorite Christmas projects! These are simple and easy to make!
Perfect for decorating, practical for jewelry, gift cards, or other small gifts - these are a snap to make! Get a jump start on your gift giving by making a whole bunch of these! Ribbon keeps them tied closed and you can even "disguise" your gifts as ornaments and hang them on your tree. Try these with your scraps of designer series paper - you'll need a piece that is 4 in. x 10 in. You can get 3 of these boxes out of a sheet of 12 x 12 paper. You could make these out of cardstock and stamp your design also. I used two different pattterns from the Holiday Treasures dsp paper from Stampin' Up!.
Cut your paper to 4 in x 10 in. Crease in the middle at the 5 in mark.
Make a little tick mark for yourself at the 2 in. mark at the top and bottom (halfway on the 4 in. border side). Use your scor tool, scor pal or a ruler with your bone folder
Make a score that run diagonally from on of the 2 in. tick marks on the short edge to the top of the score going down the middle (5 in.) Then start again at the 2 in. tic mark, but score diagonally to the other end of the middle score. Flip your paper and do it again.
You should end up with two trinagles scored into your rectangle.
Embellish with your choice of stamps, paper, ribbon, etc. I used the stamp from Winter Post stamp set that coordinates with the label punch. And some delciious felt flurries.
I used my crop-o-dile (which I LOVE!) to punch the holes in the sides for the ribbon- Riding Hood Red taffeta.

The deadline for Christmas cards that are blank to be sent to soldiers to send back home has passed, but they are still accepting Christmas or Wintertime cards for the "any hero" packages. Now is a great time to be working on Valentine's Day cards to be sent.
I've been trying to use my copic markers more, so here is a card featuring them. PS The stamp is from "Fun and Fast Notes" which is available for sale in my "stamp sale" page.
I bought my Christmas stamps ...... now if I could just get my cards done! This is a card I made this weekend while my friend Tammie was visiting here in FL!
The colors are Rich Razzleberry and Bermuda Blue, all stamps, cardstock and ink from Stampin' Up!
I'm playing around with different color combos/stamps for Christmas cards - this pairs Bermuda Blue with Brilliant Blue. Stamp sets used are: Medallion, French Script, Warm Words.

So my challenge project this week I decided to make a one layer card ..... although since I messed up the sentiment (it was crooked, it morphed into a two layer card) using the faux bleach technique:
I also decided to make some earrings that I think Alice would have whipped up ... these are RED bottlecaps with some amber accents! And yes, they're bottle caps - aren't they fun????

This week's Etsy inspired was one I found the time to play along wtih! Our "job" was to check out Red Crow Arts pottery and raku on Etsy and then go be create! Well, I was inspired by the beautiful colors and this set of raku leaves:
and created this! I used the "faux bleach" technique and the stamp set I used was the SU/Country Living magazine exclusive from two years ago: Country Blessings. I heat embossed the sentiment in black for a little extra pop. Oh, and its on shimmery white cardstock for that little extra sparkle!

I think this is my new fav technique - faux batik .... (or emboss resist with the eP removed whatever you want to call it!). Emboss your image (I used versarmark and white eP on white cardstock), then color in the fun (sponge it in or brayer it, or spray it on), and then heat up your iron and using newspaper (or old brown bags) remove the eP (be careful not to get it on your iron, though!).

Hope you all had a great Father's Day! I probably should have posted this earlier ... this year I actually considered {gasp!} buying a card for him. Holy cannoli, I clearly haven't been to the card store in a very, very long time. Every card I looked at was retailing for $5.00! Yikes!!!
So, this is the card I made for my dad, I used a "faux batik" process on it.
It might be hard to tell from the photo, but that's Kraft cardstock underneath. I had stamped it with "Bitty Dots" (remember that one? its long been retired). Then I used my "Bid Deal Alpha" and "Wanted" stamp sets with versamark and embossing powder. Spray or swipe your colors over top, allow to dry. Then get out your iron and some paper bags (real kraft!) and iron the eP off. Make sure your iron doesn't end up with the eP on it, you may want to put some foil over top.
I used the bronze metallic paper from Textiles dsp pack and Handsome Hunter. A little ribbon and the star brad from the stylin silver HPH set completes the card.
