Snow angels!

This is my first foray into digital stamps - but when I saw that this stamp created for Henry, I knew it was time to dive in.  Henry passed away earlier this month, quite unexpectedly, and several stamp companies have created stamps that will - proceeds from the stamp will be used to plant a tree in his memory.  This digi stamp is available from Paper Makeup and you can read more about Henry <---- by clicking.

Its on Aqua Mist cardstock, the background and sentiment are Snowflake Serenade from Papertrey Ink.  I colored the image with my COPIC markers in BG11, BG13 and BG18.   Hair is E55 and E59, the snow is Cool Gray #1 and I used Diamond Dust stickles on his angel wings and the snow.

I recently blogged about 7 Kids College Fund  magazine giveway to benefit the card drive for kids who are hospitalized receiving treatment for cancer, the deadline has been extended till the end of this month!  You can read my post here and see the cards I made earlier this month. 

My mojo seems to be on a bit of vacation, but I did want to make a few more cards for the project.   Especially after being inspired by seeing a post on Samara's blog featuring her son's card for a friend who had lost a parent <-------you can click to go view the card/post.

I thought this would be a fun card for a child, its pink and girly!  Special thanks for Tab for blogging about this :-) wonderful project!   I made two of these, one goes to  Alexa (who's got a pneumonia relapse) and one for Tab's card drive.  I'm headed to go mail my cards to Tab!

Timing is running out! SCS "Not a raffle"

Ever heard of a "non raffle"? Well the wonderful, generous and warm-hearted folks over at Splitcoast Stampers (SCS) have put together an incredible fundraiser.  I couldn't be more proud to have participated in creating an item especially for this event and ask that you all join me in making a contribution You can read about it by clicking the above link (in purple).

My contribution was a frame (its picture a few posts back) .. it goes into a bigger collection of items affectionately known as PSF Coffee Basket #1 every item will be given away. Right now there are 70 fabulous items.   (Click the links to see all the donations!).

Time is limited :-) you have till August 6th, 2008 to make your donation!

This week its Christmas in July!

Its hot and humid in FL and I'm workin' on Christmas cards!  This is probably my first card using the Swiss Dots embossing folder and it won't be my last!  Everything else is from Stampin' Up!  The stamp set is "Big on Christmas" the colors are Glorious Green, Green Galore, YoYo Yellow and Real Red.

This card was part of the batch I made over the Fourth of July challenge, all the cards are left blank - to be sent to the deployed men and women serving in the US Military. These are cards for them to use and send back home to their families.

They welcome all types:  Birthday, Get Well, Anniversary, Christmas, Halloween, Easter, Thanksgiving, etc.  There are no vendor restrictions, you can use Stampin' Up or whatever floats your boat!  Please consider them and whenever you are making a card, make a second (or third or fourth) for them!

{Anyone seen the movie Evan Almighty?  Perhaps my favorite line is when God (played by an incredible Morgan Freeman) says we can change the world with one random act at a time!}

Stamped my heart out this weekend!

I saw an email earlier last week, the 4th of July weekend was a WishRAK (Random Acts of Kindness) Challenge to make cards for troops.  These are cards left blank inside, so that they may use them and send back home for birthdays, Christmas, anniversaries, etc.  So, I stamped lots, played with sets, new "toys" and made lots of cards AND ended up with lots of cards for my blog.

I purchased "Always" recently and I hadn't cut and mounted* any of my new stamp sets.  {*Oh, the horrors!  I know ....} so one of the first challenge was for Anniversary cards, I knew which set.  I love the bird, he's just soooooo trendy right now!  I was going for a card that a guy could send, that conveyed the sentiment, without being overly flowery or frou-frou.  I love the colors in the Oulaw paper and that became the basis of the card. 

ETA:  I meant to add that if you have not heard ... beginning in the New Fall catalog (August 11, 2008) NEW stamp sets will be die cut!!! Yahhoooooooo!!!!  Probably no one is more excited than me :-)

 

Cowboy Coffee Frame {Not a Raffle!}

{This project has been reposted since the fundraiser has begun! } I'll try to keep this near the top.

A coffee themed frame project in delicious Cosmo Cricket {Wanted} paper!  The frame is 10 x 10, and just one 12 x 12 sheet created this!  I used one side for the bottom (that chocolate) and one side for the top (the distressed Cool Caribbea/Aqua Mist color).  I added half-pearls for decoration on the bottom right and upper left.  The other embellishments are little clay frames with "dream", "love" and "imagine" stamped into leather.  The stamped image is from SU.  I used a piece of cardstock where the photo is supposed to go (I don't like those silly frame inserts with someone else's family!) and silly me, didn't notice the cardstock wasn't secured in there before photographing!

Named for one of my favorite flavors of Keurig coffees - Cowboy Coffee!  Cowboy coffee is a reference to the strong, smoky sweet coffee cooked over an open fire. 

This frame will be part of a larger gift basket with all sorts of hand made goodies from the PSF's for a charitable raffle hosted by SCS.  I'll keep you posted on when the FUNDRAISER (not a raffle!) will begin.

I'm a foster mom!

I agreed to help our local animal shelter care for the bumper crop of kittens they have!  So, I'm a foster mom for the next month!  Here are my new little ones, and yes - they're litter mates!  There is an orange one, a siamese and a tiger - all those colors in one batch.  I help with their care and give 'em lots of TLC so they'll go to their next home well socialized.  So far, I've noticed they love to wear their food on their faces!  They also tried out my cuttlebug, LOL!  One figured out how to get the handle spinning round! 

They're too small to be adopted, the orange one fits in the palm of my hand and so far ;-) loves to just snuggle, the tiger seems to the "play" instigator and the siamese - the wrestler!
