Today's challenge over at Papertrey Ink is to make a tag featuring a frame.  I had so much fun with my paint chip gift tags for the holidays that I made that I decided to create some more for any ocassion.

I'm such a paint chip junkie!  Here are a few more of my paint chip bookmarks.  Stazon ink is defnitely the way to go with these!

Colorful reading

Most of you that are regular blog readers know that I love paint chips .... love collecting them - the colors are always so fabulous and juicy!  After my paint chip tags - I got to thinking about using some of the bigger paint chip samples as book marks.

And here they are, I paired up the paint chips with some matching silk ribbon (this is recycled indian sari ribbon), the top is secured by a large pewter eyelet functioning as a grommet:

Winter frolic tags!

Its time for the Papertrey Ink blog hop - the November challenge is tags! 

I made these tags with paint chips in iced colors, the tags were cut with my Cricut (Winter Frolic cartridge) on Papertrey Ink premium white cardstock.  The stamps used are from Friendship Jar Holiday Fillers. I embossed the tag and added some die cuts from leftover scraps, silver cord completes these:

And how about one more in the tumbled glass color scheme? 

This one uses a paint chip I *liberated* from the home improvement section of a major retailer - its the same lovely blue greens sea glass colors of my other cards this week.

It paired up with some paper from Prima - I believe this stack is called "Second Wind" .  The cardstock is Aqua Mist from PTI, and the stamp is from Unity Stamp Co. Its heat embossed in chocolate eP and it smudged just a bit (the paint chip has a glossy surface) but I think that adds a bit to it.

 

I'm hoping the Space Shuttle (STS 133) which is the final flight for the "Discovery" shuttle will be launching today.  I've waited (sorta patiently) all week for its launch, which has a series of delays, although I want safety to be their biggest priority - I'm just excited to see this historic event in person!   I promise to share photos (if it launches).

TTIC Farewell Blog Hop

I am very excited to bring you something special for our last Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge {and I've got Blog Candy, so keep reading!}.  For this event, we're doing a DT blog hop in reverse alphabetical order.  Our challenge theme????  "Love of books, the printed words on a page"  since that is what brought us all together.  Even though this is our last time the design time will officially be together and I'm sad about that, I have loved every minute of my time with the design team! 

Create a project that uses printed text: a page from a magazine, book, dictionary, etc. within your project, as the background or focal point.

Comment portion: I love to read the newspaper online but nothing beats a printed newspaper on Sunday mornings. And no matter how hard I try, I can't abandon books (hardcover, softcover, or paperback) to a digital reader. Are you totally digital or do you prefer a good old fashioned printed page in your hands?"

Here's my project, I used an old book to make a large focal flower.  I used my "pinked circles" dies from nestabilities. there are six layers, I sponged them together, then crumpled to distress and give some dimension.  The button is actually sewn onto the flower so the two elements are securely together.

My FABULOUS Friend ~ Color Couture challenge!

Papertrey Ink has had some fantastic challenges and announcements this week as they kick off their THIRD anniversary!  I haven't had time to play along with them all, but I did squeeze in some time today to do the color couture challenge.  They had several awesome color palettes for us to choose from and I chose this one!

This is my color challenge, I used the "Friends till the End" stamp set, and it may be hard to see but the flower is stamped in Aqua Mist on the background of the cream cardstock.   And I found this fabulous paint chip that was a complete match to Berry Sorbet!

 

TTIC55: Monochromatic challenge

Make a project using a monochromatic color scheme

inspired by the Twilight Saga.

For those who may not know or are unsure, a monochromatic color scheme uses a single color on most every layer of a project. In this type of scheme, various darker shades, grayer tones, and paler tints of the main color may be included in the palette. In addition, the one color is often paired with white or another neutral. (Wording paraphrased from About.com)

When the ever delightful Eve {This is Bliss} picked the challenge, I knew what I wanted my focus to use paint chips!  And I've been wanting to use the pages out of a book I had chopped up for another project - so I used these with my nestabilities and created the focal point flower.

TTIC53: The Transformation

 

The amazingly talented Alison brings us this week's challenge, this is what she writes:

I am so excited to be bringing you my second challenge! This one is a little different, because you get the opportunity to make yourself the subject! Spoiler alert! Don't continue reading if you haven't finished the Twilight Saga!!!

In Breaking Dawn, Bella transforms from human to vampire. In life, we all go through changes...though not as severe as Bella's! What kind of changes have you physically gone through? Cut off all your hair? Dye it blue (like me?)? Nose job? Pregnancy? Lost a lot of weight? We just celebrated Halloween... did you or someone you know wear a costume that transformed them to being unrecognizable?

Craft Challenge: Create something that narrates a physical change you've gone through

 

I feel a change coming on!  Do you ever feel that way?  Like there is change waiting to happen?   I have that feeling now and can only imagine that's how Bella felt.  I'm not comparing myself to Bella, I just can relate to that feeling that change is in the air! 

I had sooooo much fun with my challenge last week with paint chips, that I delved into my "stash" again.  I made two projects, one I was really happy with, the other I think I want to re-work a bit.  For the first one, I used the TTSC14 sketch challenge #14 - and an embossed foil panel.   I think the sketch was a great match for my card.   {This is the card I'm happy with}.

 

For my second project this week, I used the sketch challenge but changed the elements.  I used the paint chip inside the card and used my curvy rectangle nestability to to scallop the edge of the card so that the paint chip peeks out.  I wanted to do something in a bit different color scheme, so I used purple and red together. {this is the project I'd like to tweak a bit, I think there is something that's not quite flowing right with it}.
