{not so} secret confessions of a yarn addict

Is there something that you buy simply because its *beautiful* - and then can't bring yourself to make a project with it? 

For me that "something" is yarn.  "Hello, my name is Rebecca and I'm a yarn addict".  I was doing better, but I fell off the wagon today. I bought some yarn -  volumptous, scrumptous, bodacious yarn (from Italy) in this soft fall color palette.  Can you blame me?  I just couldn't pass it up although they only had two skeins. 

 
My yarn addiction goes pretty far back .... I crochet and I'm pretty hooked on "loom" knitting.  Have you tried it?  I scored a set of round looms last year and its so easy.   I took a knitting class and still *think* I want to knit using needles - but the whole casting on thing just scares me.  What I really like about loom knitting?  Quick gratification - its not instant but it doesn't take long at all to finish a project.

Just to hold myself accountable - I plan on actually starting a project TODAY with this yarn.

And this beautiful silk yarn - its made from recycled saris.  Its a bear to work with, but it makes really pretty things.

So, instead of stamping - I seem to be spending my time trying out my new Knifty Knitter!  The yarn above is my current creation - its a simple scarf.  The yarn - I've long since lost the label to it - but its chunky boucle and jewel toned with lovely berries, reds, oranges, and this green.   I can't seem to get the hang of knitting with two needles - don't laugh at me - but I keep trying to use the knitting needles like crochet, my brain just doesn't seem to make that crossover.  But loom knitting ... this is something I can do. 

Actually, I blame Margie ;-) (just teasin' you!) - you can check out her knitting/loom blog here <--- just click.  I made the "pomp a doodle" scarf last week, this week is just a simple scarf using up some of my yarn (alot of these projects are "one skein" projects, so I can work through some of my stash that is built up where there isn't enough of a color to do a bigger project).

My looms are round, but they also make bar style looms.  Round looms are often used for knitting anything in the round - hats, socks, tube style scarfs, etc but you can do flat panels on a round loom.  I found this fun video here:
