Whoooooooo loves you? {Growing in Unity, Day 5!}

I cannot even begin to tell you how much fun this has been!  A huge shout out to Angela - I cannot believe your wonderful company is going to be *just*1 year old on May 1st!

Its only as I'm uploading this that I am realizing that I don't think the 4th of July kit is available any more - but *most* 4th of July kit stamps are available as singles.

This features "Owl Always Love You" and doubles as my (late) entry for Etsy Inspired #30 .  I really love her technicolor graphics and was dying to create a project.

 

I used black cardstock as my base.  The fireworks are silver embossed and then colored with my Yatsumoto pearlescent watercolors.  The owls are watercolored on fabriano mediovalis cold press in "bold brights":  turquoise, green, blue, pink, orange and yellow.  I added a few swarovski flatback crystals for sparkle in the night sky. 

Cause life is better when it sparkles, right? ;-) 

 

 

My second project (this is the big finale) is from Unity's Hip Hop

 

The card features bottlecaps (I use my Big Shot to flatten them) on the "Bubble Gum Tree" stamp - believe it or not - there is a stamp under all those bottlecaps!  This time I added a ton of buttons :-)

 

 

 

The Wish .... Day 4 of my Growing in Unity week!

What a wonderful week its been!  I read each and every comment you leave me and I savor them!  Most of you know that my schedule has been insane, work is eating up a far larger amount of my time than what I like and I don't get to hang out at SCS, with my PSFs or with my Twilight Tuesday peeps as much as I wish I could.

Today's card features the blue sky technique recently shown on SCS with the Unity Stamp Co. stamp entitled "Wish Sticks" - its a fun stamp that I know I will get a ton of use of out!  I used white flock hoping to make it look like dandelion fluff - remember that?  Here in Florida we don't get dandelions, but I grew up in the midwest where blowing the fluff off a dandelion and making a wish is a treasured pasttime.   I also used a few Swarovski flatback crystals.  The sentiment is from "Just My Type" alphabet set - I just love that keystroke/typewriter look AND that set includes both upper case and lower case letter!   I just wish the flock showed up a bit more, I'll have to try it again on darker blue - perhaps?

Besides remembering the fun of making a wish, inspiration for this card comes from this book cover .... this book is a wonderful read. The author asks the simple question:  does a wish have power? Finding herself in "the void" - could she open up to the unknown?  Her answers are poignant, thought provoking and funny - I'd recommend it to anyone.

Whooooooo can believe my week is half over already! 

Where does the time go???

I think its fair to warn everyone .... that in addition to my complete and total adoration for Unity Stamp Co, I also LOVE LOVE LOVE kraft cardstock!  Geesh .... I think at least half of everything I make is on Kraft.  And I pretty much always use "Dark Chocolate" brown ink instead of black.  Some other details:  I used "distressed dots" background in versamark ink.  The numbers come from March 09 KOTM "Simple Life" and the cupcake is from the Ginormous Cupcake set & is now sold as a single.  The cupcake is pieced on Basic Grey Fleuriste paper (as is the circle).   How fun will it be to circle the birthday ?  i.e. 3 for someone turning 3 or 3 and 5 for someone turning 35?

Wedding Favors TTIC 28 {Day 2 of Growing in Unity}

OME!!!! What a blast this is!   I am soooooooooo terribly enjoying my "Growing in Unity" week - can you FEEL THE JOY???  That is the stamp set I used on these little wedding favor baskets.   They would also make great MAY DAY baskets.  These were super fun and easy to make..... I just used the die and then stamped the flower on the sides.  The tag received the sentiment "feel the joy" along with a little pearl embellishment.  The colors are just yummy:  blues, yellows, grey and a bit of pink! I used double sided dsp ... and just reversed the basket.  The Bigz XL basket die for the Big Shot comes complete with everything you need to make the baskets, flowers, tags, etc.

Home is where ...... {Growing in Unity, day 1}

What a wonderful week this is going to be! 

I have patiently waited my turn and now its here :-) I will be showing off Unity ALL week long!

My first project was inspired by a recent trip to the SCS Unity gallery where I stumbled across a bookmark by Christi Snow <---- click to go see it.  I knew I wanted to make one for myself! 

I used the Home is Where Your Story Begins stamp from the Nov. Kit of the Month (KOTM) entitled "Enjoy YOUR STORY .... Laugh"  and the distressed dots background.  Colors are Baja Blue (SU) and Dark Chocolate (PTI), the ribbon is adorned with a filigree brad.  I used the frosted polyshrink from Shrinky Dinks (I like this with ink the best, no smudging!) and I cut the shape out with the Curved Rectangle Nestability.  I used the word window punch on the side for where the ribbon goes.
