kitten update

My life has been a bit crazy these past few weeks, so you'll probably be seeing a few less paper projects from me this time of year.

But, my foster kittens are growing big and strong, and are just some of the most amazingly fun crews I've had (of course, I say that about all my foster kittens)!  They turned four weeks old on Monday - and I can't believe how they have grown! 

Here is Skippy Johanna (names for the Skippy Jon Jones children book series), a fluffy litttle girl who is whip smart, a born leader!

White, white, white!

For us here in Florida, a snowfall is mostly something that exists in movies and books.   I've never tried a "white on white" type of card, I'll admit that white is not my "go to color". 

I'll probably have a kitten update for you on Thursday!  A little something to look at before the food, family and football fesitvities begin >^..^<

its beginning to look a lot like Christmas!

I decided to switch over to my Christmas blog design, just a few days earlier than the traditional "after thanksgiving" decorating.  Its Squigglefly Monday and over at the Squigglefly blog they have a fun challenge for you! Its a sketch challenge this week!

This is Squigglefly's Celestial Baubles <--- you can click to go see it.  Its a great versatile set for Christmas and Valentine's Day, with a tree, a star, a heart, a bell and an ornament bauble shape.

My foster kittens are three weeks old today!  They were party-ing it up BIG TIME yesterday!  They celebrated by taking their first real visit out of their nesting box.  I missed the first photo op of them putting their faces in the water bowl and trying their first drink of water, but you'll notice that Jelly Roll tries out the kitty food.  Not alot, but a first taste.

One of my favorite Unity stamps "Shine!" .  Its stamped on a watercolor notecard (these are Fabriano Medioevalis) and then I watercolored the background.

Frosty: Warm and cozy and all bundled up!

Did you get a chance to stamp with VSN on SplitcoastStamper's this weekend?   This was one of the challenges - to make a card or project with an image of a something you'd bundle up with....scarf, hats, mittens, sweater, blanket, etc.....AND to make it warm and cozy....... incorporate felt into your project.  If you missed the mini VSN - there main event is coming up December 9th and 10th.

 
I went with something simple - I wanted to replicate these cute tags I had seen on Pinterest (click here to see them) using embossed circles as the snowman head.  Then added some felt ribbon as the scarf.  I cut freehand a carrot nose and sponged some ink on it to give it a bit of dimension.

Bird-day tweet! {sfc124}

Our challenge this theme is to make a birthday card (its Marlene's birthday this month, too!) Make a birthday card for a woman, a man, a child or a pet! Let's see a birthday card!

I chose these wonderful set called Birds of a Feather by artist Bonita Jones and the set includes three birds (a turkey, a robin and penguin and five sentiments to mix and match).

Most of you know that I'm busy with foster kittens - they are growing like crazy (I'd say weeds, but these are waaaaay cuter than weeds!) and are two weeks old today.  Their eyes are open and they're little ears are starting to stand up and hear the noises around them.  They are growing more active and try to toddle around - it really won't be long before they're into everything and causing kitten mayhem!

Dollar Store Makeovers {ATU44}

Our challenge this week for All Things Unity is to go buy something
at the dollar store and use it in your All Things Unity project. 

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!! And right up my alley!

 

I bought a square baking pan (yes, it was just $1 at our local Dollar Tree) and used the bottom to hold a scrap book layout built on a 6 x 6 page size.  I added a layer behind it (that was 6.5 x 6.5 in) and it nicely filled the space.  If you wanted to go for more, you could always paint the baking pan (remember to use a primer first to help it stick to that metal finish).   I also bought a 2-pack of these poinsettia ornaments at the Dollar Tree - they are super glittery, and the little floral pick I used on the top with the pinecones and red bird. 

The stamp is Christmas List from Unity Stamp Co. The paper is some scrap I had left over (but I think its K & Co.) and I used a bit of ribbon between the pieces that is ruffled grosgrain from Stampin' Up.  The background cardstock is Really Red textured from SU, the green is Always Artichoke.  I used my crop-o-dile to punch holes in the top for hanging, and added some striped red wide ribbon.

Don't you love that brief burst of warm fall days right before winter settles in?  I chose this stamp in honor of Veteran's Day.  That was my inspiration for this Mini VSN Challenge to use flower soft. 

A big THANK YOU to Nancy (of Inkcicles) for sweetly sending me a sample of Flower Soft so I could try this for myself.

The stamp is from Cornish Heritage Farms and I am sooo excited to see that they are re-opening.  I haven't seen yet if they will be producing the Thomas Kinkade stamps again - but I hope they will.
