A bit about me :-)
Who would have ever guessed a book in the "young adult" section of the local book store would completely and totally engulf my life! And I never thought I'd like the rubber stamping craft. Not me!!!! In fact, a few years ago, I was the one who never even wanted to go to a Stamping Up party - I had no interest in rubber stamping. Once I stamped, I was hooked almost instantaneoulsy! Since then, I've signed on to be a Stampin' Up demonstrator. For me .... I still didn't have a lot of motivation to actually USE my stamps. So, I started a blog, thinking it would be a good way for me to get in the habit of using my stamps, trying new techniques, new products. Well ... a few months ago - Twilight and stamping had a collision - somewhere on the magnitude of peanut butter and chocolate Reese's peanut butter cups!
Through blogging I've met hundreds of wonderful stampers, some of them I've even met in real life (IRL). Some of the great folks I've met include Tonya, Eve and Beth - who put together the Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenge. I've really had a great time creating cards with a Twilight theme! I'm very pleased to be joining them on the Design Team! You can find quick links to the whole TTIC Design Team in my sidebar {over to the right}.
One of my fav quotes:
Try as we might, we can never step into the same river twice. Because the wind, rain, pebbles, leaves and other elements of life - a river is from one moment to the next always a river, but forever changing as it interfaces with the elements.
Heraclitus said that centuries ago (circa 500 BC).
Miscellaneous tidbits:
-
I type quickly .... and sometimes my fingers don't always keep up! I appreciate anyone who overlooks my typos.
-
I've been published {once} in Stampers Sampler Winter 2008 edition.
-
I prefer to photograph my projects using natural light ... so I wait sometimes to get things photographed. I find the colors are truer. I don't like to use flash or interior lighting.
-
I don't like microwaves! Really ... I hardly ever use mine! I think there is something unnatural about it {shudder} - really you are MICRO-WAVING your food! If I heat something, I either use a non-stick pan or the oven.
-
My current blog banner & signature was designed by Michelle Laycock - the background based on a quilted jack a dear friend made for me. Michelle added the bird since that's one of my favorite stamps from the Always stamp set.
PS don't forget to leave a comment on Tonya's blog - or post a project or BOTH - for a chance to win this month's blog candy!
Which character am I? I'm Alice (of course!)

My project was to create something with Alice in mind. So I made this card ... it says "Alice" to me for soo many reasons. First off, if you've read the books I love the things she says - like when she says to Bella "I will never lie to you". And how she knew Jasper was meant for her, from the very beginning - she didn't know when, but she knew he was going to walk into her life at some point. Although fictional, she has this really human side to her. And the part of her that struggles with not remembering her life before becoming a vampire, or how she became that way. So for me ... when I think of Alice, I think of the color white.
I like to think if Alice was a paper crafter, this is the wedding card she would create for Bella and Edward's wedding. This uses shimmery white (perfect for any vampire that sparkles, right?) on silver cardstock. I embossed the white panel - and then used my silver ink pad to highlight the raised edges. The ribbon is black/red from the stash Eve sent. The whole card is embellished with a crystal branchy thingy.
I also tried some Alice inspired jewerly! In the movie, she wears a Cullen Crest choken (its black) and I was thinking these earrings would go perfectly well! They are from my stash of vintage Jet beads. I've paired the Jet with sterling silver beads, sterling lever back earrings and red jade. They're ready for gift giving ... and I'll probably be putting these in my Etsy store <----- click here
