Wordless Wednesday {week of Dec. 16, 2009}

58 Twilight Tuesday Inspiration Challenges?????   OME, where has the time gone??? Its absolutely flown by! 

It's time for our last challenge for 2009.  We have had a wonderful year here at Twilight Tuesday and we are looking forward to having another fun, crafty and adventurous Twilight-y year in 2010!
 
This week's challenge is "A Twilight Christmas"  create any Twilight themed holiday project.

Comment:  What is something that you are leaving behind in the old year and what are you looking forward to in the new year??? 

My projects??? I made this fun collage card.  I channeled my "inner Alice" and then I grabbed inspiration and materials from several sources. The large postcard stamp is from Unity (isn't it cool?).  I used satin ribbon, felt snowflakes, lace and one of my favorite color combo's of robin egg's blue paired with red (Aqua Mist and Pure Poppy from PTI).  These are quick and fun gifts.  If you missed my post last week - more ribbon bookmarks and instructions are here.  <--click.

I also made a ribbon bookmark in red velvet! Great for a little Twilight saga reading over the holidays, right? The beads on the both ends are vintage crystal from my secret stash with a red swarovski sequin.

What did I want to leave behind me this year?  How about the 35ish pounds I have lost??? Also, I'd love to leave this crappy economy behind!  Its been hard seeing record numbers of unemployment, foreclosures, business closing, my 401 and retirement investments losing serious money,  etc.  So I'm looking forward to a better 2010 - hopefully the economists are right and things are going to start looking better.

Its a raspberry/poppy Christmas!

Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! {ribbon bookmarks}

I love ABC (anything but a card) projects and I love to read :-) as a result, I make a lot of bookmarks!  I spotted these on the Michael's website.  I think they are a make and take item for Saturday (This saturday, Dec. 6th) and if you have a pliers - they're quite simple to make.  These use ribbon clamps to decorate a length of ribbon.  Attach your favorite charms and you're all set!  I used a snowflake button, a word charm that says "believe" and a faux crystal in the first one.

This second one I call "chocolate covered cherries" and features red and brown ribbon with some really yummy chocolate colored beads and swarovski crystals.

A festive and easy Christmas themed project

Here's the details:

• 4 pieces of Background & Texture paper cut into squares of the following sizes: 3", 2.5", 2" & 1.5"

Fold all pieces in half on the diagonal, unfold and then fold again in the other diagonal direction and unfold again.  Unfold and then fold again in the other diagonal direction and unfold again.  Making a point at the center of your paper and smoosh it in to create a near star, as shown in this picture.  Bring the folded edges together pushing in the unfolded side edges and press flat.  Pull one of the corners up and fold to the inside. Pull the second corner up and meet the first at midpoint and fold it in as well. Now do this with all the squares. Now working with the largest piece and from the bottom to the top of your tree slip the second largest piece onto the first largest piece and so forth. What you end up with is a Christmas Tree. Now you can move the pieces up and down to adjust your tree size. Play with it a bit and then adhere to your project.

Look what I found at the Dollar Store (Dollar Tree), yep it cost $1!  Its a shadow box for a small project!  They come in unfinished wood .... with a magnet to help keep the hinged lid securely in place.  I finished mine with a quick coat of acrylic paint - in a soft green (the finish is a bit lighter IRL than in the photo).  Inside ... I did the three dimensional origami tree (click here for the how-to's) with some little bits of paper (simply cut three squares, one slightly smaller than the other) and ribbon as packages.  The second photo is of the inside.

Celebrate! {ttic57}

Margie brings us this weeks challenge and she writes:

I don't know about you guys, but I'm still celebrating the release of New Moon! and my b'day is in a few days! I'm in the mood to keep on celebrating in every way... sigh... wouldn't it be nice to receive a handsome vampire as a gift? 

Challenge: Create a "Celebrating" project for the vampire-lover in your life! It can be any Holiday - birthday, Christams, Valentine's, etc. Have a ton of fun with this one!

Comment: There's no denying that we all have wish lists! Some lists are a little more practical than others... What's on your "not-so-practical" wish list???

My "celebrating" project is a gift card wallet - good for one or two gift cards for your favorite person!  I love gift cards :-) don't you?  Why not make them a little dressier for your Christmas, Birthday, or Winter Solstice giving?   These are very easy to make from an 8 x 8 sheet of double sided paper.  You could accent it for almost any holiday.  This project is infinitely easier if you have a scor-pal, but you could actually use a ruler and your bone folder to score the fold lines.  I found this tutorial here that demonstrates the project much better than I can (thanks to Cambria!).  I made a few of these, they are very quick and easy!  And there are two pockets inside, you can slip a gift card into one side - a personalized note (or another gift card) into the top pocket!

 

On my "not so practical" wish list??? Besides new furniture for everyroom in the house and a HUGE screen TV??? And more time - I am still trying to stamp my Christmas cards!  It would be the trip to Italy to see the places where New Moon was filmed!

Tis the Season ....

   ..... to be making Christmas cards!

I paired some Prima paper (this one has a black flocked damask pattern on metallic paper) with Rich Razzleberry cardstock (SU) and the Signature Christmas set from PTI (the background on the sentiment is Damask Designs stamp set).  I gave it some sparkly things and promptly dropped it in an envelope  - I hope she enjoys it!
